A Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from UET Lahore, MBA from Quaid-i-Azam University, MS from MIT USA in Management & Policy and advance courses from Harvard University, Mr. Arif Alauddin is Managing Director of The National Energy Conservation Centre (ENERCON) since November 1989 currently on leave and serving as Assistant Resident Representative/Chief Energy and Environment Unit of United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since September 2003.

Before joining ENERCON, he served at Hagler Baily, The World Bank (twice), The American University Washington, Centre for Policy Alternatives MIT, Attock Oil Refinery Rawalpindi, Heavy Mechanical Complex Taxila and International Rice Research Institute.

He is member of various committees on environment and energy conservation and visiting professor at many prestigious colleges and universities.
